So "is he seeing someone" isn't meant to be literal, and "friends", or "friends with benefits" IS still literal, not the sharing of oxygen tanks and nitro-glycerin quite yet.

Glad to hear he's still sprightly. I've gone through this with my elders at so many levels.

They are neighbours and met at the gardening club where they live, both are keen gardeners and just hit it off, they did move on a little further but it didn't work out, they are still friends, they walk her dog together, spend time gardening together but that is all.

I was trying to be funny, in a way, having been through the taking care of the older folks in my family. Hmmm, not successfully.

I hope to still be skiing, hiking, canoeing, fishing, and so on when I'm 80.

And gardening! Sheesh.

I'm sure God usually just chuckles when anyone says that.
