Uploading Recipes on CookingBites

Rules for Uploading Recipes and Retro Recipes on CookingBites.com

CookingBites is a community built on sharing creativity and respect for others’ work. To keep our forums tidy and easy to navigate, please follow these simple rules when posting a recipe.

  1. Starting a New Recipe Thread: All recipes must be uploaded into a new thread. Recipes added to existing threads/discussions will be removed. The first time this happens, we’ll usually create a new thread for you and gently remind you not to do it again.

  2. Choosing the Right Forum: Select the forum most relevant to your dish’s main ingredient or audience (for example, vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free). If several forums seem suitable, use your best judgement. If you later realise it would fit better elsewhere, use the report button to ask the moderators to move it. Tag your recipe correctly so it can be found easily in searches. More about tags by clicking here.

  3. Recipe Prefix: Each recipe thread must include the correct prefix: Recipe or Retro Recipe. This helps members filter lists to see only recipes. If your thread doesn’t have a prefix, it won’t appear in the recipe list! See how to add prefixes by clicking here.

  4. Recipe Format: While we don’t require a strict template, please follow this recognised recipe structure:
    • Introduction: Optional but appreciated. A short description or story adds charm.
    • Photograph of the finished dish: Optional but encouraged.
    • Ingredients: Mandatory. Include clear quantities in metric, imperial, or both (please stay consistent). “Retro Recipes” may use traditional old English measures if appropriate.
    • Method: Mandatory. Keep it clear and easy to follow, ideally using numbered or bulleted steps. Add photos for tricky parts if you can.
    • Credits: Mandatory. Credit the source honestly. If inspired by another recipe, say so and link it. If it’s your own creation, you’re welcome to say that too.
    • Comments or Feedback: Optional but always appreciated. What worked well? Would you change anything next time?
