A very simple recipe for Gluhwein, for max two mugs.
You need:
- 500 ml red wine ( I prefer fruity for this)
- 50 g dark brown sugar
- 1 orange, juiced and seeds removed. Don't throw away the halves, they will be used.
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- Seeds from 2 cardamom pods
1) Put orange halves, juice, cinnamon sticks, sugar and cardamom seeds in the bottom of your slowcooker. ( or saucepan)
2) Pour wine over it.
3) Cook on low for 45 minutes in the slowcooker, or 20 mins on low on the hob in a saucepan.
4) Pour through sieve in clean heat proof jug.
5) Pour into mugs and serve.
