So for the past 3 days I have been getting a barrage of phone calls on my cell phone, which over the 8 years or more I have had this number, has never happened. The first day I got almost 30 calls, yesterday I got a little more than that, and today I have gotten about 10. They generally start up around 9 a.m. Yesterday they stopped between noon and 5 and then started back up again until around 8. It's almost all different phone numbers, too with an area code from my region. Some pop up as potential spam or telemarketer, but the majority of them are showing as valid numbers. I turned my ringer off the first day in the evening and haven't turned it on since. Twice I actually answered but no one was there and after 17 seconds, it hung up. Before that I was letting it go to voice mail but of course they did not leave a message. I have blocked all the phone numbers but new ones keep popping up. I tried using the Samsung app on my phone for this but apparently it only works for known spam, so today I am still getting calls. The first day they were about 10 minutes apart and same with yesterday, and today they are about 20-25 minutes apart. It's pretty annoying. I might have to stop by AT&T tomorrow and ask if they have any ideas what I can do besides changing my phone number. Sigh.

That's a real PITA. I'd go to AT&T right now.
I would if I could, but I am on my way to work. But good news is they stopped calling for the day at 11:32 a.m. Let's see if they start back up at 5ish. I have blocked all those numbers and that may be why they slowed down today, we shall see.

Maybe your Samsung has the same feature as my iPhone - there is a setting that only the phone numbers in your contact list will ring through. Numbers that are not in contacts go straight to voicemail. I then block, report as junk and delete.
Hope this helps.

Yes, I have that feature, but unfortunately I might get calls that are work-related from businesses that are not in my contact list so I can't do that. I appreciate your input, however.

Edit: I just got home from work (a little after 6) and I only received one spam call this afternoon and none since.

JAS_OH1 I was having the same problem awhiles back, not quite as many per day as though...
My suggestion is go a reverse phone lookup website, enter the telephone number that called you, it should give you the option to report them as a SPAM Caller... this is the site I've been using:

Yes, I used the reverse phone lookup the first day! The problem is that (I think) it's one of those robocaller bots that spoofs numbers with my area code to get me to answer, though not sure why since they don't leave a recorded message and the couple of times I answered no one said anything and the call ended approximately 17 seconds later for each of the answered calls. Anyway, about half of them came up as known numbers and not spam or telemarketer. I know full and well that I did not get that many calls from local people in my area, LOL. At any rate, I have over 70 different phone numbers that called the past few days, so I just blocked them on my phone using the block feature (spam or known numbers alike). If I use the reverse phone lookup, I have to enter all of those phone numbers one at a time to report, and that is just a bit too tedious for me!

Yup, they're spoofing real numbers now.
We had one that came up as our HVAC service! Needless to say, I called them from a different phone to let them know.
I report each and every one that we've gotten, it "teaches" this new fangled AI 💩 that these are not legit callers.
As to the delay and then hangup --- you're right that it's a robotcaller or autodialer and if a "rep" isn't available to talk with you then it hungs up and puts your number back in to the que.

JAS_OH1 Go here and register your number with the do not call registry. It will be removed from public records. It won't be instant but it does work. Have to renew every so often, cant remember the time frame, it's a calendar thing.

Also, if after registering you still receive calls you can report them to the FTC.

Yes, I did that a number of years ago with our house phone, not like it omitted all of the calls because some spammers just don't abide by the rules I suppose, but definitely worth doing for my cell phone now. I never thought about it before because I never had any problems before now. Thanks, going there now!

Edit: well that was easy!!!

Well 9 calls so far today but not in the past 35 minutes. Not going anywhere and don't need my phone so I'll just keep the ringer off. I'll give at&t a call later if they start back up.
