When I was growing up, I always heard my mother referring to fish as brain food. What she meant is that it was good for maintaining a healthy brain as well as keeping one mentally alert. Now that I am older, I understand what she meant. Fish contains omega-3 fatty acids which are known to be good for keeping the brain healthy. Fish oils are also good for this as well. I drank a lot of Cod liver oil when I was growing up. These days, I would still buy a bottle of this oil occasionally and take 2 teaspoons full every day. The vitamin D contained in this oil is also beneficial healthwise.
