Serves 2, Preparation time 5 mins, Cooking time 5 mins

  • Bramley Apple or Fuji or Golden Delicious variety, 2
  • Lemon juice, 1
  • Cinnamon powder, to taste
  • Optional: Sugar or Honey, to taste
  • Butter, unsalted: about 20 g
  • Icing sugar, to taste
Method

Peel and cut a couple of apples into chunks not too small and not too thin.

Place the chunks in a bowl and sprinkle them with the juice of lemon and stirring well: this will help to prevent them from blackening.

Melt the unsalted butter in a pan and sautéed apple chunks for about 3 or maybe 4 minutes by adding a sprinkling of cinnamon powder as well. Let them gilded on medium heat, in this way they will be crunchy and not soggy.

Tip: as we said, we didn’t add any sugar or honey because tasting a piece of apple we have realized there was no need of it as they were sweet enough. Thus it depends on your taste buds!
Remove them from the pan, sprinkled just a little bit of icing sugar at the end.

You can also serve these pieces of apple with ice cream or whipped cream.

We always had (and I still have) something similar here when I was a kid...fried apples; basically, sliced apples fried in a bit of butter, brown sugar, and lemon juice. They're good any time of the day, but we usually had them as part of breakfast.

I think is also an Italian habit to think about things like this only for a snack or for a dessert.. it will be great also as part of breakfast, definitely, but it’s very rare that we cook something for breakfast - in a pan and apart from preparing coffee.
Sorry, I hope this explanation makes sense.....
