An apple is a sweet, edible fruit produced by an apple tree
An apple is a sweet, edible fruit produced by an apple tree (Malus domestica). Apple trees are cultivated worldwide and are the most widely grown species in the genus Malus. The tree originated in Central Asia, where its wild ancestor, Malus sieversii, is still found today. Apples have been grown for thousands of years in Asia and Europe and were brought to North America by European colonists. There are more than 7,500 known cultivars of apples, resulting in a range of desired characteristics. Different cultivars are bred for various tastes and use, including cooking, eating raw and cider production.
One of my favorite things to do with ground pork!
(Breakfast pork sausage, with apple. Seasoned with fennel, sage, and a mild smoked paprika. A little nutmeg.)
Fennel, sage and apples definitely marry well with pork.
(Dicing apples. Some caffeine in the background.)
I’m using the above...

Pork and apples… Apples and pork… There’s a theme going on here, and fennel also goes well with pork, just as rosemary partners well with lamb. And, I’ve discovered I LIKE meatloaf — if one leaves out the breadstuffs and grains! They’re moister this way, for one.
This recipe is both gluten...
During a phone chat with my one year older brother for Christmas/New Years, apple butter was mentioned. And do you know, I have not had it in ages?
It's easy to make and it's on my list of things to churn out a recipe for.
I came across this recipe some time last year and was intrigued by the unlikely combination, so decided to go ahead and make it.
While I can buy apples in Caracas, they´re either red or green - no variations - so I chose green. Ricotta is one of those ingredients , for me, that doesn´t have much...

Here's a simple recipe for autumn breakfast muffins I made. It's an ideal way to use up some apples that are getting old.
What you need:
115 g butter
115 g self raising flour
115 g caster sugar
3 small apples of your choice (kid sized). Peeled, cored, and grated.
1 tsp pumpkin spice mix...
There are many versions of this classic French dish which is usually made with chicken pieces. Here I used a whole corn-fed poussin which comfortably serves two unless you are greedy. In the USA a Cornish game hen can be substituted.
1 tbsp vegetable oil
I recently lost two Granny Smith apple trees to Hurricane Ida so I have several utility-buckets of not-quite-ripe Granny Smith apples. They're too green and sour for eating but I was wondering if there are any other kinds of recipes they'd be useful in.
Thanks in advance.
