Let's explore the truths and fallacies about cooking and food.

For instance, is it true that tomato will ameliorate the sting of hot peppers? Can you use it to take the pepper sting out of your eyes?

Does garlic really prevent bacteria and viruses from growing? Can it be used as a preventive medication to avoid the flu and colds?

What crazy hearsay or true facts, do you know of about cooking and food?

I never heard of any special properties of tomatoes that would make it do anything to capsicum other than dilute it. It does work to some extent.

There are lots of little bugs that do not like garlic. However it is not going to work on any speciic thig. The one main thing though is it is good for your immune system and that can't hurt. (unless you have one of certain peculiar diseases)

Well I assumed we were taking about good garlic.

I inspect mine closely, if it is going in the grinder I cut it up a bit to see there are no nasty parts. Sometimes I just cut it manually, depends on what it is going in.

I used to smoosh the cloves before slicing because it made it easier, but then garlic juice was all over my board instead of in the food where I wanted it.
