I'm going to call this a retro recipe because I first got the recipe when I was a young child reading Highlight's magazine. It was a candy I enjoyed as a child, partly because I really liked it, partly because I could make it pretty much by myself, with mother doing the chopping and measuring, and partly because I got to lick my fingers. DD was the same way as a young child as were the DGDs. I thought those of you with young children around might like to make it with them.

3 ounce package cream cheese, softened to room temperature
2 cups sifted 10x confectioner's sugar, plus extra for shaping and rolling
1 tsp vanilla
pinch of salt
1/4 cup chopped pecans, plus more if you want to roll the balls in them

Cream the cheese with a large spoon, slowly blend in 10x sugar. Mix in the vanilla and pecans. Using 1 Tbsp of the mixture, form into balls, dipping your fingers into the sugar so the mixture will not stick. Place on parchment or wax paper. When all the balls are made, roll them in the sugar (or additional nuts) and refrigerate until firm.
