Difficult to find ingredients

Chervil. Couldn't find it anywhere until recently when buying tomato plants from a specialist online supplier. The missing ingredient from my fines herbes breakfast omelettes. The plug arrived, and was duly planted in a pot alongside an oregano bush. Two days later and it had completely disappeared. Not sure if slugs or birds were responsible, but back to square one.

Could be cats eating it. I don't eat any herbs grown in my garden because the mutt likes to water them, and several herbs growing in my kitchen are munched by one cat in particular.

It won't have been cats. They sensibly avoid our garden - it is a dead end, one side being bordered by a steep drop to a running stream where they would likely get cornered by two inquisitive and very territorial Jack Russell terriers!

Difficult ingredients, hmmm. I know, the proper kind of birds nest to make a proper bird's nest soup.

Up here, in the middle of Sault Ste. Siberia, great cheese is a challenge to find, as are things like Mortadella, high quality salamis, and German sausages. and so on, and people willing to experiment and try different foods. They just don't know what they are missing.
