Do you use the heel (bread)

I'm having some toast as my mid-morning snack:

That top piece is the heel (I think some people call it the butt) of the bread loaf. It's my favorite piece for toast.

MrsT doesn't like the heel at all and won't use it. She's even been known to throw it away.

Besides using it for breadcrumbs (which I also do, and croutons), how do you all "feel about the heel?" - love it, hate it, or couldn't care less one way or the other?

And another. The 'heel'' is in the centre. I'm sure your term is correct but I've always called it 'the crust'.

The heel is fantastic for loading with butter and then rubbing all over hot corn-on-the-cob. Hot buttered corn and hot buttered bread!

Mine goes to the dog. He loves bread, so I save the crust end for him.
Sometimes, it´s the only way to get him off the sofa late at night:
" IGOR! TIME FOR BREAD!!"
..andoff he goes.

As have i.

I use the crust for breadcrumbs, eating with chilli-con-carne or dipping in my char siu noodle soup.

So it is here, but we still call the end bit 'the crust'. I note that is the term used by karadekoolaid above (he is originally from UK).

Back in the days were I ate a lot of chocolate cream, I smeared a big layer of butter on the heel followed by a thick layer of chocolate cream, sometimes I use jam or peanut butter or both.

The most important for me was, the spread should balance the big peace of bread.

In our house the end piece of a baguette is called ‘the knobby’ and is highly desired with lots of butter.
