Easter 2025

I woke up early this morning so that I could get the Apple Pie made for this afternoon's lunch.
That was a fail!
I had frozen some leftover Apple wedges and they were just mush!

Okay, now what's for dessert?
DH: Didn't you just buy a big carton of that Ice cream that we all like so much? That'll do just fine! AND it's one less thing that you need to do! Sit down, have another cup of coffee, and what's for breakfast by the way?

Have I mentioned that my husband is a genius lately?

Meanwhile I have the exact opposite problem.

I am having my mom, dad, brother and SIL over for dinner this evening. I wanted to make a chocolate soufflé cake for dessert. I put out some butter, in a bowl, to soften to room temp, and went off to relax a bit.

In the meantime, my husband wandered in and decided to load the dishwasher. Trying to be helpful and all that.

I came back into the kitchen…”um, where’s the butter?”

Dumbass had somehow NOT NOTICED THE FREAKING ENTIRE BLOCK OF BUTTER in the bowl and had tossed the whole thing in the dishwasher. So now the dishwasher’s full of freaking butter, I need to restart my soufflé, husband is sheepish and I am trying very hard to not be too mad at him.

If profanity were allowed on this forum, my post would be full of much more colourful words.

I did think to myself at one point “well, maybe I should have told him not to put that bowl in the dishwasher” but quickly decided that no, if he’s stupid enough to not notice a whole block of butter in the bottom of the bowl, that’s his fault for being a complete idiot.

He’s at least got the good sense to be contrite, although he did snap at me to quit acting like he did it maliciously. I know he didn’t do it on purpose, but again, I am struggling with how he managed to just NOT NOTICE.
 
Also I had to restart my soufflé. Came out a bit overdone but tasted alright.

Easter monday here too and we are wondering if the shops are open. I think they might be. Semana Santa (Easter) is a week long celebration here but the weeks up and mondays not a bank holiday in Spain so there's a chance.

Hard to know cos in reality Spain seems to shut willy-nilly throughout April.
Kind of hoping it's open cos the spiced lamb n date casserole was supposed to do two days but the packets bone content mostly put pay to that.
It might be a 'Ready Steady Cook' day with three random store cupboard items that don't really go together forced onto a plate 😆
