Has anyone eaten something then regretted it for one reason or another?

For me it was gritz - had one small mouthful and it tasted (and felt) like I was eating saw dust ... swore I'd never try it again no matter what anyone said.

So what have you guys tried and wished you hadn't?

I’m actually very, very cautious about trying new things, so I don’t have very many instances of that. A couple I remember:

1. A woman I was sweet on (unrequited, the story of my youth) stuck a batter-fried shrimp in my mouth. I was too polite to spit it out.

2. Invited to a dinner party and the hosts served mushroom soup, as in a purée of mushrooms. I was too polite to refuse it, and ate enough to be able to claim I was saving room for the other dishes, even though it tasted like whatever’s less tasty than a turd rolled in vomit.

TastyReuben I think that just about covers the question and - your much more "civilized" than I possibly would have been :)

When I took my OH to the UK and we visited Inverness (obviously) my wife tried Haggis, which really surprised me, and said it was great and gave me a little to try. I wont say that I didn't like it but - I don't know, the thought about the sheeps stomach and all kind of makes me think twice ... :(

We’ve just been to Inverness recently, don’t remember haggis, but some kind of fish soup was served, forgot the name.

Many things😅

We didn't stay in Inverness but in a small Hotel about 3/4 the way up the right side of Loch Ness. Ironically it was owned and run by an Aussie. Wish I could remember the name of the place as it was really nice.

We stayed at Premier Inn, boring I know, but Inverness is not cheap so we had to go with Premier Inn. Alberdeen was much cheaper. My daughter also stayed there for a whole month and left just before we arrived.

Anyway to answer your question, I don’t like greasy and they served me something in Chamonix, it was greasy, that was my regret.

It's grits, not gritz. And you had a batch from someone who didn't know how to cook them.

Heck it has been 10 plus years saince I have been to the UK and;therefore, Scotland. We went into Inverness for dinner one night but don't recall where or how much it was. Most likely a pub I would think.

Nope - off of a plate in a resteraunt .... it's a case of once bitten twice shied so never again.
