Eaten something you regret?

I'll try most things. I once picked and ate some wild mushrooms on the say so of an old geezer in Highgate Wood - broke the cardinal rule of mushroom collecting and ended up in emergency 😎

Love haggis 🙂

Never had longan or alligator - medtran49 - what are they like and what did you dislike about them?

I think I had alligator meat once, somebody told my mom it would cure her asthma, but I didn’t know at the time.
However, I do have a longan tree, the fruit is just sweet.

Once upon a time I owned a 27' Cruiser which I berthed on a local lake (Keuka for those interested) anyway - it was berthed at a Resteraunt/Pub so naturally that is where we ate when we ytook the boat out. One day they had Flake on the menu so I ordered it happily thinking I ws going to get good old Aussie Flake caught and made in the US.

What I got was terrible compared to the flake that is common in fish and chip shops in Australia. It didn't even look like the lovely white juicy tender fleshed Aussie Flake, instead it was a browny colour and very oily.

I geuss that the same food can change between countries so we can never assume that the same food we eat in our own countries will be the same else where.

The first time my wife came to Australia she got of the plane and was startving - saw a mcdougals and decided to get a burger (I think that is what they called it) ANyway, she took a couple fo bites and threw the rest in the rubbish bin saying it tasted very different to the US version .....

I quite like longans.
Never had alligator, but crocodile is OK.

I think mine is mince pies.
Never had one or heard of it before. So I assumed some nice small savoury snack.
Not!
And I still don't like them. Far far far too sweet
You don't like Mince Pies - away with you ................................... !! :D :D :D

Mince Pies are savoury but as I recall they are not supposed to be made from meat but from sultana's and other fruits ??
