Favourite dish beginning with..

For "W":
  • Walnut Cake: Eaten with a nice cup of tea.
  • Walnut Ketchup: Lots of recipes around for this old-fashioned sauce
  • White Pudding: Basically the same black pudding, but without the blood
  • Wow-Wow Sauce: Old British sauce who's recipe was first published back in early 1800's
  • Watercress Sandwich: Perfect accompaniment with afternoon tea
  • Whitebait: Lovely as an appetiser
  • Wholemeal Bread: A staple and great for sandwiches
  • White Chocolate Cheesecake: an elegant dessert. Can be over sweet at times.

W is for wontons. When I can be bothered, I'll make a batch of about 80 of them and most will get frozen for an easy dinner item when I'm a bit rushed for time.

Restaurant ones in chili and black vinegar. I usually order them if I see them on the menu:

Oh yeah.. I know it might be unfashionable to say this, but I love White bread. It's my favourite and always has been. I like a thin or medium-sliced cheapo, bog-standard supermarket loaf. What do I make with it? Amazing moist and soft sandwiches with a variety of fillings: prawns, chicken salad, egg mayo, tuna mayo, ham and cheese, fish fingers, bacon, cheese and tomato, sausage, etc. loads of British classics, but most of all each slice must first be slathered with loads of salted butter and my fillings usually have mayo or salad cream in them. Also, I prefer this bread for toasting.
