Food or cooking related Chistmas gifts

One food related gift I’m going to get is maybe a creme brûlée blow torch, mine is out of gas but my husband said not to buy butane, he doesn’t want me to mess around with it, just buy a new one. So that might be in the list.

I used to give food as gifts sometimes just tins of homemade cookies/candies, sometimes gift baskets with homemade sweets and savories, plus purchased food items, hardware and consumables. My mother started this with candy Bourbon balls (think similar to Brach's cream candies), miniature pecan pie type cookies, and her snowball cookies. Those Bourbon balls were very popular, people would ask for them.

Unfortunately, I just don't have the energy anymore to spend all day for several days making things. Heck, even spending most of a day cooking something wears me out and leaves me hurting so bad I don't even want to eat dinner. Craig's been lucky to get a couple batches of cookies the last few years.

A few Christmases ago for my Neighborhood Gal Pals - build your own hot cocoa kits, all from the Dollar Store.

Stockings, no way. badjak and I are coming to take that mustard away, dressed in black, balaclavas, and armed to the teeth with frozen peas.
You’ll have to fight me for it.
And I have ninja training.
Well ok I don’t but even so it’s gonna be a hell of battle to get me to release any grasp on the Moutarde 😂

From my Neighborhood Gal Pal, WOW!!!
It's waffles and bacon for brunch tomorrow, for sure!!!
What a lovely gift box, really. I love anything from Stonewall Kitchens.
I've never tried Maine Maple Syrup before and that Wild Blueberry Jam is to die for.
And come on man! How adorable it that tea towel? I told DH is is NOT to touch it under any circumstance!!
What a lovely gift, she's so thoughtful, she gets me! And as she says, I get her more so than anyone else in the `Hood.

I may get a carbon steel frying pan so I can ditch my last remaining cast iron skillet and preserve my rapidly deteriorating wrists.

I’ve received things like cookbooks, a dough whisk, a chef’s torch…and we always get little treats for each other, just sweets and snacks that we each like. I got my current food processor a couple of years ago, someone usually gives me some tea, etc.

Well how about this:

MrsT and I had ordered Christmas gifts for each other before we’d gone on vacation, and they all came in (minus one) while we were gone. Our neighbor collected them and gave the ones she ordered to MrsT and the ones I ordered to me.

I went to wrap my gifts to MrsT, grabbed the first package, ripped it open, and out plopped the little prezzie above!

Note revealed it’s from my niece, and she knows how much we like syrup, so she bought us a little pack. How thoughtful!

I’ve already sussed out a few cocktails to make… :whistling:
