'Funky' aroma but great taste?

Asafoetida is spice which smells like rotten eggs. But its absolutely delicious when added to sauces.

Yet that doesn't bother me. I like the smell of it. And it definitely doesn't smell of rotten eggs to me

I like the smell too. But I know that some people think it smells horrible. High sulphur compounds...

Funky?
Don't know how I'd define it, but truffles or mushrooms come to mind, as do extreme French cheeses like Pont L'Evecque or petit Livarot.
No problem with asafoetida., but namak (black salt) definitely tastes of eggs, ie. sulphur.

I agree some things smell weird but taste great!
Shrimp paste & fish sauce come to mind. I'm used to them now, so don't mind
