I use a shower cap (the sort they supply free in hotel bathrooms) to cover bowls - such as for dough rising. You can re-use many times:

Should the canister be disconnected? I've never disconnected mine - am I in breach of health and safety?

I really don't know. The canisters that I have are valved so will permit removal with no subsequent gas leakage.

I hope to shortly be using one of these pop-up mini greenhouses to prove bread:
The first prove isn't a problem, but I always struggle to cover the dough during the second prove in the tin. I'm hoping this will make it easier.

Thats a good idea!
A shower cap will also cover a tin because it has elasticated edge - that's what I use.
Neither have I - except to prove bread!
