Gen Z, millenials etc.

There's some evidence they cook more due to economic pressures.

Babish (one of the top rated food youtubers) following is predominantly 18-30 and surprise surprise his audience is more interested in the actual cooking than the side show stuff.

It's human to want definitions to things and to categorize big groups into something. A remnant of our tribal days as a species I suppose.

So thinking in terms of generations isn't bad per say for general observations as a scientist or journalist, but problematic once it becomes a dogma.

All people of a generation are never the same, and while some trends can always be observed we must all remain aware that what is observed once at a moment in time is just that, a momentary observation. There are tiring, obnoxious and selfish people in every generation. We're all living now and creating the world we see. Want change? Be that change.
Maybe ask the next Gen Z er how they are doing when they refuse something, instead of rambling about lazy Gen Zers online. Their answer may surprise you.

Some very wise words :)
I don't even know which group I would belong to, but I do know I hate being put in a certain box. Always have, always will !

When the first of my friends turned 25, we called her "almost antique". Just jokingly as we were 23 or 24.
I remember thinking people of 40-45 were ancient, but when I turned 45 I had changed my opinion and thought I wasn't old at all.
Lot of blah blah, but age has nothing much to do with attitude. We are what we are, influenced by the surroundings and conditions we grow up in.

Funny little bit: while ago I had some people wanting to go on a canoeing safari, multiple days.
2 couples. The guys figured they could still manage together, but they wanted a paddler for each wife.
The guys were 84 and 82 :)

Have to admit that putting people into categories (Baby boomers, millenials; Caucasian, hispanic; left wing, right wing; gay, straight, etc.) rather annoys me. People are people, that's it. I don't mind and I don't care - they're all people and should be treated as such.
When I was at uni, studying music, there were a lot of "gay" singers/actors. So what? Some of them became really close friends because they were wonderful human beings. I played cricket for years - with Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Jamaican, Trinitarian players. We all got on really well.
Venezuelan society is a mixture of Caribbean indigenous people, Spanish, African,Portuguese, Chinese. They're a wonderful mixture. In our culture, it's a term of endearment to call some "negrito", "chino", "portu", "musiú (a corruption of monsieur, ie. European)..something utterly alien to Western culture. We're gregarious, we get along, regardless of age, race, colour, religion or political preference.
The world would be a better place if we just all learned to get along.

And they were sleeping in rooftop tents :)
The older couple had been to Africa plenty times. It was the first time for the other couple !
I was thoroughly impressed

I don' about all of this Gen X and Z and whatever - all I kjnow is I was brought up to be respectful to work for what you want and to earn what you get - no free rides, no handouts just because your lazy - you get what you give. In other words - you give nothing, you get nothing. It is a sad fact though that quite a lot of people 30 and younger seem to have this attitude of entitlement - call them milleniums or whatever label you want to put to them - the label is irrelevant.

Kids/people act in accordance with how they have been allowed to act and what they have been allowed to get away with.

Now, I am sure there are exceptions. I taught my step sons to earn what they wanted and to be respectful of others and they are - hell, they even know how to say please and thankyou. Call me old fashioned, but there are certain things that should be taken for granted.

People younger than 30 are Gen Z and Gen Alpha, Millenials range to 30 ( though some say the cutoff is 32 atm ). I am a millenial and 38.

You’re sure there are exceptions? So you think you can write off almost an entire generation as entitled? You know them all?

People have always acted in ways they can get away with, nothing new about that in this generation. Also nothing new about older generations complaining younger ones don't have the right attitude..

Maybe, people should not judge people on superficial factors like their generation. Just get to know the person you talk to and you might be surprised.

I try to stay out of this subject except to say, maybe off topic, when I was in my 20s, I thought 30s was old, I think I must have said some hurtful things to people who were in their 30s. Hey what do you know in your early 20s. Then when I got to my 30s I thought you are old if you are 60s. Now I am in my 60s, I thought people in their 90s are old, but I certainly wish I live to that ripe old age.

Age is nothing more than a numeral - personally, your as old or as young as you want to be. To me, age (the numeral) is irrelevant :)
