How is the corona virus affecting you?

I recall talking to a taxi driver in Paris last month about how much larger the engines are in the States. In Europe, a 2.0L engine is considered a good-sized engine. Many cars have hybrid engines, and there are many charging ports available for electric cars. He told me that he'd love to get a big engine (the 3.0L in my Taurus is considered that), but the fuel is cost-prohibitive.

I don't know if it's the same in the rest of the world, but gas (petrol) prices are plummeting over here. I paid $1.59/gallon for gas in Detroit a few days ago. The prices in the States were already lower than most places. I hope the rest of the world is starting to see some relief in this.

Of course, there's nowhere to drive anymore. My commute to work was 40 miles each way. Now, the commute consists of me coming downstairs to sit on the couch. Any driving I do is to and from the market. I used to fill my tank at least once a week. Now, I think it'll be closer to once a month, if even that.

We are big on cars in my family, I sold my 66 notchback V8 a few years ago, havnt replaced it yet, wife's daily drive is a V8 ford 5 litre, my daily is 6 cyl 3 litre Holden.(Gm) son sold his 65 impala for his first home deposit 10 years ago. I'm looking for another classic car ATM.

Gas here 5 months ago $2.30 litre, but now down to yesterday $1.75 litre.

There was a news article about a big gala in Palm Beach (very wealthy event) a couple of weeks ago where a couple that attended, having just gotten home from Europe, have now tested positive.
I know it's not just Florida, but there seem to be an abundance of stupid young people who are going ahead with their Spring Break plans. I saw one college student who said, "If I get it, I get it. I'm not worried about it."

This is the future of our country speaking here.

Have fun recovering from spring break in the hospital!

I found a place that has gallon jugs of spray hand sanitizer for $45 in stock right now, with shipping of $14. They appear to be a reputable company that has been in business for a while. Any current forum member that wants the name PM me. I have nothing to.do with this company, was just looking around.

Reports here of two tourists on the west coast told a chopper pilot on a flight seeing trip, they won't isolate. He flew them to the local police station, it's a rural town, fox glacier. They were arrested and sent packing home.

The coronaviris probably has a little to do with gas prices, due to less demand. But, Saudi Arabia had already increased production to drop prices.

BTW, my car has a 1.6L Turbo engine. :okay:

The problem is they are kind of correct in thinking most of the younger fit people who contract the virus won't get too sick. What the selfish idiots aren't realising though, is they can then pass it on to the elderly or those with pre-existing medical conditions with potentially fatal results. They might not even realise they have it.

We have the same problem here in Oz, with footage on tv on Saturday from our iconic Bondi beach showing it packed, mostly by younger people, who then go out to bars and nightclubs completely ignoring social isolation advice. Unfortunately, this behaviour has prompted new laws here closing bars, licenced clubs, restaurants and Church congregations starting today Nation wide.

News media here says the Arabs and Russia are fighting over selling it hence the lower prices here, although we are still being gouged.

Tasty, did you watch the Governor's press conference this afternoon? The female Dr. certainly seemed to be "doom and gloom". Understand this is nothing to fool around with but, I thought DeWine did a much better presentation of " this is serious however, we will get through it".
Yep. Both Guv DeWine and Doc Acton are getting high marks for being as ahead of the curve as they can be. The contrast between the two, though, is kind of funny. Usually, he's a bit more doom and gloom, and she's usually a bit more soothing/comforting.

Hospitals here generally have camp beds stacked under the permanent hospital beds to accommodate relatives. It is the norm for one or two relatives to stay with the sick family member as company and to provide additional food and/ot drink if required (most hospitals have canteens).

In many major hospitals this practice is not now allowed for the foreseeable future.
