Insomniac's Thread

Thank you, what a generous observation.
We do car share occasionally, 3 to 4 times a year, but it is not convenient for daily commute, as we all have very different schedules and family obligations before or after work.
I can also opt for an online set of lessons occasionally, not having to travel that day, e.g.for a hospital appointment or alike...twice a year or so...not exploiting it...
Well in that case fingers crossed a job near home comes up soon 🤞

Well bedtime approaches and if I want a good nights sleep all I need to do is leave my tech in another room and stick with the kindle.
So as a grown ass woman who knows this why am I fighting against it?! 🙄
I find my kindle keeps me awake. It's the screen I suppose.

My first one that’s now in Spain is a bit too bright but this one does a dark backlit mode with ‘warm’ writing. It’s pretty dark. I can use it without it disturbing Mr SSOAP at all.
So long as I don’t read anything too interesting or funny it works like a charm.
It’s to the point now that the Kindle is so associated with sleeping that I rarely make it past three pages 😂

A pic next to my phone screen because is had to tell how low the lighting is on it.

Aargh the insomnia monster has me in its grasp!
I can't even make myself read the kindle.
Heyho, sometimes you just gotta roll with it haven't you.

I wake every morning at about 4 am. I've taken to listening to LBC. There is a presenter who burbles vaguely amusing nonsense from 4 am to 6 am. Then at 6 am the political issues surface. LBC seems to be rather right of centre. There are really no left leaning talk radio channels. So at 6 am I get annoyed and wide awake. I switch it off and try to sleep. Sometimes I then get 2 hrs. But this is now a pattern...

You let right wingers in your bedroom before your eye are even properly open?!
You masochist! 😂

I’ve had a terrible time the last few nights. Can’t sleep, move to guest room, still can’t sleep, move to couch, still can’t sleep…

My problem the last few nights, though, isn’t anything to do with worry - it’s my imagination and excitement kicking in. I begin thinking of a subject for a story and my brain starts writing that, or I think about something coming up in the next few days, and I get excited over that…last night, I was thinking about using my new banneton, for example.

Well yes thats my problem, it’s not usually worry (although all the business with my mum certainly introduced an element of that), it’s usually something that’s coming up that I enjoy thinking about.
Thats why I need a middling book on my kindle, which I have to actually pick up and read for it to work so theres that 🙄

So here I am on my first stage of insomnia.
It's the type where I've strived to achieve something with a time frame and all that entails.
Then I achieve it, so it's finished but my mind is still on go.

Today's a good example. Got up at 3am for a flight (that is extreme for me) and nodded off multiple times on the flight and this evening.

Now everything's done and I know everyone is safely transported from A to B I can relax.
Except I can't!

Time for a fat gin!
