I've always thought I've got a pretty developed palate and have never noticed that. But, everyone is different! We have found that metal can and does, part a taste into certain foods.

I never used to notice it until recently. I made myself a 2 hot herbal teas to take with me in my vehicle. I knew I was going to need both.I've always thought I've got a pretty developed palate and have never noticed that. But, everyone is different!
Maybe.Better grade of stainless back then perhaps.
I have new stainless items that are food grade, but my hard water will rust them if left in long enough to evaporate.
I have the same items that are 25 years old and they do not have that problem.
I lived someplace that had ONLY electric everything. I HATED the electric stove!!2) Natural Gas Cook top (never had gas before, LOVE IT!)
That would have been like my house. Been here 16 years and STILL hate the electric stove.I lived someplace that had ONLY electric everything. I HATED the electric stove!!

The only thing I liked was that it had an electric heater in the wall of each room. So I didn't have to heat every room. Saved a bit of money on heating. Didn't live there long. It was in Greenwood Lake, NY. Beautiful view (Greenwood Lake) in the morning and I had the whole top floor. The backyard was the Appalachian trail. Oh, and the water was ice-cold and tasted great. If I lived someplace that was electric only, it would give me a reason to get one of those butane gas burners most of the youtubers use now.
I've read quite a bit about this but I am not convinced by the research & conclusions. They are doing their best to phase out gas hobs. In the UK they are planning a ban on new gas connections from 2035
Commercial kitchen will be expected to commit to switching over too.
Gas hobs can release nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, benzene, and methane contributing significantly to respiratory problems and cardiovascular disease.
It’s not popular to mention this because people get very defensive about it but the evidence is well documented and sadly rather damning.
I love my gas hob, I don’t enjoy the inductions hobs I use one bit.
You don’t believe any of the studies showing an increase in childhood asthma where there are gas hobs in the home?I've read quite a bit about this but I am not convinced by the research & conclusions.
Mostly an increase in astma and other issues is mentioned (as proportion of the population), whereas the use of gas (again as percentage of population) has actually decreased.
Anyway, I'll go of my soap box now.
Lets say I am sceptical about the fact that it is caused by cooking on gas...You don’t believe any of the studies showing an increase in childhood asthma where there are gas hobs in the home?
I should just mention I have no vested interest one way or the other, I like my gas hob and will continue to use it.
But it’s not possible to burn any fuel without creating pollutants is it?
I’m sure there is.Lets say I am sceptical about the fact that it is caused by cooking on gas...
Increase in childhood asthma while there is a decrease in the use of gas for cooking ?
Surely there are other issues at play here.
But lets change the subject somewhat ...
I do love all my cast iron cooking stuff and will use it on both my (gas)stove and over charcoal or wood![]()
My biggest is a size 6 potjie.I’m sure there is.
I like cast iron but I do find my largest pot when full is quite a hefty weight!
