Kitchen items you love.

How did ATK steer you wrong?
I can’t remember what it was, but I bought something based on their recommendation and it was terrible. I’ve got things they’ve recommended from just a few bucks up to several hundred, and have always been very happy with them and found their insights largely true, but whatever it was, it was way off.

I also like to drive on vacation. I've driven to Florida, Maine, and just west on I-80. This country is beautiful, and you can't see the beauty from the air. I drove to Arizona and back. I got to see the purple mountains' majesty and amber waves of grain! And drive through the Rocky Mountains (The Shining flashback LOL)
Yes, it was nice the first two times we drove to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina but we know that route pretty well now so flying was nice the last time. It was nice to do a 1 hour 38 minute straight flight instead of a 10+ hour drive.

Back to the topic: I need a new upright vacuum cleaner for tile floors, as my Shark died before we left for vacation. It didn't get up under my kitchen cabinets and around my chopping cart and trash can the way I liked anyway. I have a Rainbow with a water filtration system but it's a PITA to set up for vacuuming. I just need a good upright for the kitchen, primarily, so even though I can't cook food with it, it is a kitchen item because I will be using it in the kitchen and dining room area (tile). Right now I had to bring up Oreck upright from upstairs to use downstairs, but it's old and it also doesn't get up under the cabinet edges easily and it works great upstairs on the carpet, but not so well on the kitchen and dining room tile.

Anyone have a vacuum recommendation for me? I'd rather not spend more than a couple hundred bucks. Like I said, I have my Rainbow (I think it was close to $1k) for the deep cleaning stuff. I just need a good lightweight upright that maneuvers easily under the cabinets and such.

I read that Europe is 3.9 million square miles and America is 3.7 million square miles so theres plenty of scope for distance here too, the French just don’t care about it.

On a motorbike with its ancient technology you expect at some point to break down. It’s expected and part of the excitement when you set off on a thousand mile jaunt, who knows if you’ll make it!
So you get good break down cover and are cock a hoop if you don’t have to use it. Your bike will be praised ad nauseam for getting you from point A to point B if it does it without a hitch, it will be a topic discussed over beers or days 😂

But yes I agree cars are different and I can see at 100,000 miles it might be on your mind. My car is also at that sort of mileage and I can’t say I trust it like I used to.

And a hard left swerve back on topic to ask TastyReuben about those DI ORA spatulas, are they much better than the usual?
Well maybe the French fly if they go a distance, LOL. Or maybe many of them think France is so superior they don't bother going to other countries!

And there is also Canada to factor in in North America. I have been there about a dozen times, but there's a lot more I want to see!

2005 @ 200K.

Swerve back...
My DH has a 2011 Chevy Silverado with 250k, but he used it working as a storm insurance adjustor driving all over the place. He really needs a new truck. His is running rather rough.

My car will be a kitchen item because when we go on vacation to resorts with kitchens and drive there, I pack up half my kitchen to take with!!!!

Miele is the only brand of vacuum I buy now, the suctions good and they last forever.
The Dyson is ok but IMO not good for the money, the handheld cylinder one I bought is a bit crap.
I like the cheap hearth hoover I bought for vacuuming up ash. I’m surprised how well thats lasted but it wouldn’t be at all suitable for your purposes.

Do you have Miele in America?

Not sure but getting ready to find out!

Well now I’m imagining that I’m kneading Lauren Graham.

My, but it’s hot in here…
Ironically, last night I saw her on an episode of Law and Order where Detectives Curtis and Briscoe go to LA. She made a pass at Curtis and he turned her down because even though separated, he was still in love with his wife. There was no cooking or use of kitchen ingredients involved in this episode.

Mod.comment: many off topic posts here with some noble and some valiant but feeble attempts to keep on topic! Impossible for me to unravel the travel.

Please stick to topic from now on. The topic is kitchen items you love.
Gotcha. I will go over to the "What's the next kitchen item you plan to buy" thread and try to find a recommendation for a kitchen and dining room vacuum cleaner. Although good news, they do have Miele in the US. I just don't know which one to get.
