Kitchen items you love.

A "field kitchen" item I love is the USGI P-51 can opener. They're small, light, cheap, and simple. I keep several on thin tarred bank line loops clipped on a carabiner in my basement prepper pantry. I keep one in my EDC laptop bag, in my vehicle's get home bag, in hiking packs, etc. Never am I absent an efficient way to opened canned goods, whether in the kitchen, the woods, or during some emergency. I even use them in the kitchen sometimes, when my regular can opener is in the dishwasher.

👏 There's one on my keychain, in the truck, toolbox, kitchen, and a spare in the center console.

Back to stand mixers,
I was looking for a mixer that would equal or rivel KA before they were being made crappy by Whirlpool. I bought this Globe SP05 bowl-lift stand mixer new a few years ago from a person on Ebay who never used it. In fact, it was still in the box!! I got it for almost half the price. And it still works today like it's brand new!! It has a bowl-lift design, is a 5-qt bowl that has a rolled top which has no give. It has a 800-watt motor and it is all-metal, except for the top cover, which is a sturdy plastic. Three vents in the cover help the fan on the motor get rid of heat efficiently. It's very expensive at most stores, but it does the job very well!! But I love it & I would never go back to a KA mixer because it's now made with inferior parts & it breaks down too prematurely. This machine also has thermal overload protection, which helps to protect the motor if it becomes too overheated due to stiff batters or dough. Stainless steel whip, spiral dough hook & flat beater & polyurathene splash guard. :whistling:
Globe SP05 mixer..webp

My KA mixer has not been broken down yet. The hot plate grippers look like something I just donated, I think my sister bought them because she was thinking of canning.

Canning has nothing to do with these. They are for taking hot pans from the oven, Something that you would normally use a pot holder for.
