I've had bahn mi with little meatballs.
Does that count?
That would be meatballs, pickled carrot/daikon, cilantro, chili sauce, cucumber and more.
The original ones would have margarine and mayo. I generally leave those out and use a yoghurt chili base

We have those too! With a mayo/sriracha sauce.

Ok, the meatball sub is nothing more than 'Cuzzetiello napoletano', aka bread with meatballs in tomato sauce (panino con polpette al sugo). Nothing else added, just juicy saucy greasy meatballs in tomato sauce

Any local pizza joint here serves meatball subs. They’re mandatory.

Subway…Penn Station, they have them. The sit-down Mediterranean cafe in town has them. Small rural town of 12,000…and there are three places I know of, and probably a couple I don’t know of, who have them.

Meatball subs are very, very popular in the Midwest.
