Ordering Ingredients/Food Items Online

The closest we've come to using any supermarket delivery was back when we lived in the Surrey, in the UK. (there is a Surry in NSW). We came home one day to our countryside, rural home to find an Ocado delivery on our doorstep. There was a helpful message that said I though I would leave it given you are not in.

We contacted Ocado - the delivery driver must have only just left it because there were 5 blocks of butter in it and it was +28C outside and they were not even vaguely soft.

We were told we could have everything except for the alcohol. Whoever had ordered it, must have been throwing a garden party. There was a massive amount of everything. Some stuff ended up in the freezer for months before we could consume it all, and other stuff - meats and such went to friends. Boy did we enjoy that delivery. There was over GBP 500 of produce without the alcohol!

Sadly in Australia we can't get online delivery from supermarkets so no surprises on our doorstep.

(Over the years at that place, we had loads of stuff left because we were the dot for the center of our postcode - 750Kg of chicken food, GBP 1,000 of alcohol - another very rich neighbour apparently are just a few of the wonderful delights we found!)

Wow, best I've ever got is a couple of misdelivered Temu orders...

So, food delivery - not from supermarkets I prefer to collect my own produce. The one time we have used it was when I had covid and my OH went and collected it - deliver to boot as it is called here. It was OK - but everything was loose so every satsuma, plum, apricot, courgette and more got squashed by bottles and tins and such. Not really that impressed.

If we can't get something by visiting any of the asian stores, then I will order online - and I am currently waiting for a couple of korean specific items to arrive by post. But most things we prefer to visit a shop and buy ourselves. Delivery takes too long, if it is even possible and in summer anythign left outside will perish very quickly - or get up and melt away...

yeah - it was odd because the house name was at the gate and the postcode covered about 10 houses spread out over 5 miles. But if you looked up the postcode, it was our house up a mile long dirt track (military but with civil access) and for whatever reason, when they found 1 house there (with no name at the house, only on the gate at the start of the track,) they would just abandon anything and everything.

I did order during covid in the Netherlands.
I had to go into quarantaine as I had travelled, but was vaccinated, had PCR tests done etc.
I came to see my dad who was in an old age home, so we were extra careful.
Actually, no, it wasn't me. Sis in law ordered for me.
Delivery was fine. All in a (deposit) crate, delivered at the door.

Let me know what you think of the Aloha Brand Soy Sauce ... both DH & I don't care for any other brand now, which is why I carry those 'to-go' packets in my bag at all times.

Hmm, found my fav brand, Sempio 🇰🇷, online. In 'Vegas I could only find the 501 and now I've got the 701. This one has been aged more! I had to buy 3 bottles for free shipping.
