Pet Hates

Everyone, I think, has at least one Pet Hate be they major or minor. The one thing I have a hard time with is when someone is cooking and uses a spoon (for example) to stir something like pasta sauce then puts it straight down with out rinsing it first and not rinsing dishes, pots and pans once they have been used. Not rinsing just makes washing up harder and longer ...

The one I hate the most is whichever one I most recently encountered. I haven’t left the house today, so I’m doing fairly well.

Things that don't pour neatly. If it dribbles down the side... Like a newly opened milk jug...

Ok, here’s one…watching cooks on TV, and they’re messy, measuring brown sugar and spilling some of it on the countertop, that sort of thing…I just watched someone pouring milk from a measuring cup and she poured a quarter of it all over the burner.

Not quite paying attention to how I’ve put down a long wooden spoon, a whisk or other cooking implement and it catching my eye as it jettisons itself out of the pan and onto the floor or slips straight into the cooking pot.

I have to use utensils that are long enough so that if they slip in then there's still enough handle left to get it out...

Me too and they’re are the ones I favour but they’re also the ones most likely to flip out of the pot

Washing some dishes by hand d last night, and wear a heavy sweater/jumper.

Pushed the sleeves up to keep them out of the way, but as soon as I started mildly scrubbing something, down came the sleeve of my scrubbing arm.

No easy way to push it back up (where it won’t stay anyway) without getting it wet, can’t let it stay down, where it’ll get even wetter, so stuck trying to wash dishes with my arm cocked awkwardly against my side in a largely useless attempt at keeping my sleeve out of the way.

One that’s on my mind since I’m currently at work: nonstop Christmas music in the breakroom. I am not interested in hearing Mariah Carrey screech about wanting me for Christmas from now until the holiday.
