Plans for today (2025)

I never wear mine out of the house. They are cushy house shoes to me that are easy to clean if I spill something on them. I love the cushion they provide when I am cooking, as we have hard tile throughout the house and if I am on my feet for a few hours in the kitchen and go barefoot, my feet ache.
I hate wearing shoes of any kind so inside anywhere I end up standing has these.

"Regular" shoes are not allowed to be worn inside the house. That's something I picked up when living in Okinawa as a child (I spent more time with our housemaid and cook then I did with my mom back then) and I always thought it made sense. Shoes are either left at the door or switched for house slippers (or other "inside only" shoes like Crocs). The only exception is for guests as I would never ask a guest to take off their shoes, though if it's family (especially my grown kids) they automatically remove their shoes at the door out of habit since that's how they were raised--and interestingly, they do the same in their own households. I have had observant guests notice the pile of shoes at the door who figured out that was the custom and politely did so on their own, which I was quite happy about...

And I have those mats, too, but if I am cooking a big production that takes several hours of preparation, my feet will still hurt. So Crocs it is. I never have that back band down on them so it's easy to slide in and out of Crocs.

It looks like a small twister hit the backyard but I think it was just the strong winds. But it's weird how some of the trees lost no branches while the elm tree had all of them snapped off, and a few trees near it lost a few branches as well. Our son is coming over to clear the branches off the decks in a few.

I've got several medical friends who are surgeons and they swear by their crocs. In professional kitchens, they're also the go-to footwear.
OK - off topic!

Unless it's cold I wear a pair of socks anywhere in the house. Get into the house and kick off the shoes.

Busy day today, went around a ton of shops, also collected new curtains for the patio door leading from kitchen to back yard. They are called 'grey', but the pic looked a little ambiguous. This pic is a little dark, but they definitely have a beige tone to the grey, but I got that vibe from the pic online and figured they would be ok.

Works from what I can see! I'm horrible at visual color matching. I'd have a job to paint a wall at a retail store in a mall and when I was done it was like yep, call the contractor; it's not an air conditioner... 🤷‍♂️

Got back home to find my neighbours habit of placing her bin in the road - trying to defend the bit of road outside her house had annoyed another person (a white car likes to ensure they park specifically there too).

Annoyingly that would have made getting my car in outside my house a bit of a struggle (if tired I misjudge angles when parallel parking). So I abandoned my car opposite.
It's a public road, no assigned spots, but kinda annoying when people ignore an empty stretch of road opposite which has no houses and park in front of your house. No point making an issue out of it tho, specially when at least 2 car owners are clearly bloody minded.
That's my lil silver car, and yes, it's wales and there is no rain 😵‍💫

Some people are so selfish they don't even know they're idiots...

Well you might find as you get older that a pair of socks just doesn't do the trick anymore. I am fine with a pair of socks if I am not standing in the kitchen for a long period of time. I think I am about 10 years older than you are and I never had a problem with bare feet up on a hard surface up until the past two years.

My bare feet are best when NOT on the floor! I'll not post a pic. 😆

I already hit the getting older (born in '65).
I have a mortons neuroma in my left foot, which definitely gets aggravated by walking a lot
This is an irritation/swelling of a nerve, it can get so big it resembles a tumour (hence the naming). From the reading I did it sounds like people have less pain from these when barefoot, or in a shoe with a good sole on it (not too thin)

I tend to lack energy / stamina so I do stuff in bursts, as and when I have more energy. So taking a break here and there means I'm rarely on my feet for hours at a time.
