Plans for today (2025)

Thinking I’ll load up a back up ipad I have with films and TV progs I know my Pa might like and take it to the hospital.
Then I have some raw tiger prawns for sesame prawn toast experiments.
It’s apparently going to be sunny today so it’ll be the first time deep frying in the outdoor kitchen which is something I’ve been looking forward to doing since the idea of the kitchen came about

How's mister SSOAP surviving without you? He did stay in Spain?

Probably going to rain on and off all day so nothing outside. Laundry, vacuuming, and grass cut all done yesterday so make my dough for the week. View attachment 129544

It's another absolutely gorgeous day here in Hawaii Nei; our plan is to go here
I'm looking to transform DH's den into a Hawaiiana room from baseball
We've already purchased two pieces and I hope to get enough before we leave.

Well he's been chatting in facetime for 2+ hours looking like a lion sleeping in the sun so I think staying in Spain suits him fine

Forgot to tell you about my bros response.
Told my Pa they must be informed and it would be best if it came from him.
His telling of things so minimised events it almost seemed silly bothering saying anything at all!

He is one of the best spin doctors you will ever meet!
I'm a little grateful because I really don't need one of my brothers here doing his Dr Google act! So overall I think it's all ok

Workday today so not much. I'll take my bread dough out of the fridge to rise again when I leave and pan cook for dinner.

Plan #1: try to remember if I've left anything out of the suitcase.
Plan #2: write it down so I don't forget
Plan #3: remove orchids from the shelter up top, and put them down in the front patio, where I know the rain will fall and no-one will have to bother watering them
Plan #4: work out how many bloody pizzas and burgers I'm going to eat in the next month

Been to the supermarket. Rested and had coffee.
Looked at stuff still sat on my floor since I emptied out the under-stair cupboard to put the first shelf in there.
Confirmed stuff on floor is still looking at me accusingly and threatening to trip me up.

I need to move some of that before wednesday as a friend is popping over. Tripping me up is ok, but not my friends.
Maybe I need another coffee before I think of making a small start

Oh yeah, 'cos there's a charity shop in the same building as the supermarket I went to ..
I picked a box I knew had at least something I'd take to a charity shop, and looked through it.
And I went through some of my clothing to pick tops and old shorts that were too big.
Repacked the box I'd investigated with the charity shop items/clothes, and repacked the stuff I'd be keeping into a smaller box for now.
That's another lot of stuff gone from the house

I didn't make any plans. Rainy and gloomy outside. When it's not raining, it's still hazy and we have an air quality alert again from Canadian wildfires.

Meeting nephew and his delightful wife at Schwabenfest later today. Will this be the year I get a meterwurst all to myself? Every year, while we decide on food, I wait for MrsT to make her choice first, so I can order my very own meterwurst, and it always goes something like this:

Me: “So what’re you havin’?”
Her: “I don’t know…what’re you getting?”
Me: “Prob’ly just one of the sausages. You know me, brat and a beer and I’m happy.”
Her: “The schnitzel sandwich sounds good…so does the chicken dinner…I just don’t feel like a sausage, y’know?…schnitzel sandwich it is! Tell me what you want and I’ll go and get it.”
Me: “You know…I’m gonna splurge and get the meterwurst.”
Her: “Be right back!”

<Comes back with a single meterwurst and an order of German potato salad>

Her: “I figured we’d just split the meterwurst.”
Me (aside): “Curses, foiled again!”

I tried to put a laughing but it wouldn't let me. I vsn actually imagine that going down. That's the same here with wife.
Me: shall I get a half scoop of chips or full??
Wife: I'm not really hungry plus I'm.not eating potatoes.
Me: so I get a half scoop and when opening she's hovering. I might just have a few. Nek minit. All gone
I only order a full scoop now. I rather throw a few out than go short.
Order 2

Fries just don't heat up well. Air fryer is better than oven though. I'd rather just eat as much as I can and then toss 'em. But DH and I split fries when we go out and there are always, always some left because I don't love them that much.

I'm cold and feeling lazy so I took out a rack of babyback ribs for the oven. They are super easy to prepare, low and slow wrapped in foil until tender. Mashed potatoes and peas on the side.
