Plans for today (2025)

Going to see my pedicurist at 1 and picking up a grocery order after.

Might be refrigerator shopping later today. The refrigerator works fine but the freezer has been slowly deteriorating for several months. We call her (the ice msker) Nellie and she's been known to stop working for a few days here and there. We have a portable countertop ice maker we'd plug in on those occasions, so it wasn't an urgent need to do anything about it. Lately she's also been leaking water a bit into the ice bin as she fills and clumping up the existing ice, so that's annoying. But last night the crushed ice button got pushed in and that can't be fixed I don't think, so no point having the ice maker itself fixed. We'll just put this refrigerator in the garage and buy a new one. I want a bigger one anyway.

I was going to do a lamb recipe tonight but now I probably will wait until early next week.
 
Holiday today, my plans were to make medtran49‘s orange upside-down cake for a cookout thingy tomorrow, but I just found out it’s not even going to start until 6PM, so I have all day to do that tomorrow.

So…I’ll be weed-eating the yard today, spraying for weeds as well, going on a walk or two, resupplying the hummingbird feeders…just some general household chores today, and making sloppy joes tonight.
 
I thought about doing some yard work but then remembered I still need to fix the weed eater and organize the garden woodpile. It's already hot out so I'll wait till the sun goes behind the woods and do all that in the shade.

Maybe take a fart walk per JAS_OH1 article after lunch, which is pork and beans on toast atm.
 
Stay inside! Pippi gets ice water when she comes in.

It's "only" going to be 87F here today. Tomorrow and Sunday low 90s. Still, not doing much. Just finishing my coffee and making waffles shortly (almost time for breakfast).

Mid 90s here.

Read an article about the microwave button I should be using so will be checking that out. IDK.

The little used power setting button. I'm going to check it out since I want to make tomato pies w/out turning on the big hot box... To me that button is like the VFD, variable frequency drive, making an electric motor turn at a variable RPM even when it's designed to run at 1750 RPM. 😃

Mine quit working quite a long time ago, but I used to use it all fairly regularly.

Now, if something says to heat something at 70% power (or 50%, whatever), I just hit the auto-defrost button, put in an imaginary number for weight (it requires that), and start it, and that runs it at reduced power, and I just keep an eye on it and it generally works ok.
