Plans for today (2025)

A very happy birthday to you Windigo - enjoy your weekend festivities!

Also, another happy birthday wish for someone in the rascal clan - happy birthday, Jonty!

As for me…off today, headed up to a big medical center in the state capital (Columbus) for an MRI.
Hope you will be ok 🙏

I'm going to write up that courgette recipe today
At least I am planning to :)

Other than that, gotta water the garden, do some laundry, start a batch of gingerbeer, keg "normal" beer
And remove Lucky my sourdough starter from the fridge

Busy day tomorrow. I've got to go into the city centre to get my new glasses. They were not ready last weekend when my OH collected his.

Then there's a number of other bits including the weekly shop to get done.

Not expecting to me home before 3pm, so I'll have to prep our chook for a day in her cage, so that's stock her up on ftesh food and water, clean her out and leave the TV on to keep her company. Don't ask. She gets lonely especially since the other chook Harriet is back with the flock now.

I'll also need to bring the webcam to keep an eye on her. She'll need propping up so she can't fall over. She's starting to try to stand only her balance needs work. She can now actually stand up leaning against something taking the weight on her legs. She can hold that for almost 2 minutes if (and only if) she doesn't try to walk away!

Once we're home I'll get her straight out onto the dry dirt which she enjoys. I'm just hoping it will be warm enough. We're due another Antarctic cold front through this weekend and it's already noticeably colder. Definite chill to the wind.

Going to get a haircut this afternoon and tidying up a bit around the house. Going out for sushi dinner tonight. Middle daughter and her new boyfriend flew in from Texas last night. They got in late and got a hotel on the other side of town by her sister's house. Looking forward to meeting the new man in her life. He's got to be a vast improvement over the last one.

When my dogs were younger I'd leave animal planet on the TV for them.

Yeah, I used to do the same thing, then when I was out running around, I thought, “What if they show a program of some wild dog getting eaten by a lion or something?! Am I traumatizing my dog?!”

I don’t know if it’s still around, but there used to be a subscription channel called DogTV that broadcast specifically for dogs, as in the picture was such that dogs could perceive it - we’d always put it on during free preview weekends, and it looked a lot like one of those 3D movies without the glasses.

Mo’ work today, maybe some light yard work, not really sure. I’ve got to work both tomorrow morning and Sunday night.

We’d had a good meeting with our finance guy a couple of days ago. He’d said we were still on track for me to quit working at 60 (I’m 59), and he asked if that was our plan.

Simultaneous responses:
Me - Yes!
MrsT - No, 63!

Hmmmm…

She’s also agreed to start drawing her Social Security pension next year (she’s eligible now), but I’ll probably have to drag her into an office and make her do that.

I applied online, never had to go in. I turned 63 in April. I just started collecting in January (applied in November 24).

Same here, never had to go in. Applied online In Jan. '24 and started collecting in March '24.

TastyReuben If you *must* go in you'll need an appointment or the guard will turn you around. However, if you mention you're there for a direct deposit issue they'll waive the appointment directive and you'll be assigned a number to wait.

I recall DogTV from back in the day when I had cable. 🤔
