Plans for today (2025)

Yesterday we visited Castletown, Port St Mary, Port Erin and Peel.
Peel is so far the main contender for somewhere to move to because I’ve been in the supermarket in all of these places and Peel’s demographic clearly likes to cook, the ingredients that supermarket stock were far more varied. The others were very limited.

Today we’ll go to the north of the island and go to Ramsey. A bit more reconnaissance checking out their food outlets and the general vibe then drawing up a shortlist for some more intensive research. Exciting 😊

Finally got a decent amount of rain yesterday. We both got pretty drenched on our evening walk.

Some of the water from our jackets ended up on the bathroom floor, and so of course I slipped and did a classic cartoon-style feet-in-the-air-flat-on-my-back fall.

I miss the days when I could hop back up after a fall and keep going without having to check and ensure all my limbs are intact first, but luckily I’m ok.

Scraped my hand and my elbow, and quite sore today, but I’m otherwise unscathed. It’s a good thing I don’t live alone - do you know how hard it is to clean and dress a wound on your own elbow?

I’m glad you’re ok, Herbaceous !

Work, and get everything packed to head out tomorrow. One of the advantages of working from home is, not only can I pack and do those sorts of prep tasks off and on today, but MrsT has agreed to drive for a bit tomorrow, so we can actually leave a day early - I’ll just connect up to my work-provided hotspot and sit in the passenger seat with my laptop.

Am I on vacation? Am I working? YES!!!

I'm packing my car
Looks like everything is going to fit :)
Safe trip!

We’re trekking (by car, of course) right across the heart of the Adirondacks, through lovely towns and villages and hamlets like Old Forge, Paul Smiths, Blue Mountain Lake, Tupper Lake, etc.

Most of the drive today will be done with the climate control off and the windows down, so we can enjoy the most intense pine tree smell I’ve ever encountered.

Finally, after calling 4 times, I decided to take a taxi to pick up the car. Have to say that the air conditioning is working perfectly - not that I use it much. It's now raining and is forecast to rain for the next 2 hours, so I'm sure I can whip up something with the head of broccoli that I bought!
