Plans for today (2025)

Got some laundry to do and will start looking through my summer clothes to pick out what I'm packing for our trip. Swimsuits are the obvious first items. Might need a sweater for cool evenings. Ironically its going to be cooler there (Myrtle Beach, South Carolina) when we arrive than it is forecasted here. Also need to water and fertilize my house plants and other small chores.
 
Plans for today include making a steak and onion pie that my son requested for his birthday (it’s such a basic pie it won’t take much brain power - cubed steak, onions and gravy, topped with crumbled hash browns) and I’m having round two of Doenchang-Jjigae. The first round confirmed for me that it’s time to give up on tofu. If the delightful flavours of a Korean recipe can’t make me like it then nothing will! I really thought if I persevered, cooked different types of tofu in different ways eventually I’d find a way to like it but unfortunately not 🤷‍♀️
Then I’ll be wrapping up birthday prezzies and writing a card.
I don't like tofu either.
Now tempeh, that's a whole other thing. Love the stuff ;)

All the stuff has turned up in time and looks the biz.
The three of us just had a little run through of what we’ll do and say and it was huge fun.
I conjured up my best BBC archives received pronunciation newscaster voice for narrating and we all tried on our mini hats which are utterly ridiculous headbands which we’ll don for the surprise to re-enter the room to announce “The first graduation broadcast live from the Estate Hall” (ie the hallway at home). The whole rehearsal was even more utterly absurd than I could have hoped for, we may have accidentally fallen into a Monty Python sketch 😂

These looked particularly good on my eldest son and Mr SSOAPs head because they have BIG heads 😂
 
Got my pension yesterday but the Groomer Girls lunch was in the middle of all that so today was the monthly reup on everything.

Found a recipe for butterfinger bars so that's on the list for today. I eat one of those occasionally and now I enough stuff to make a couple of pounds of them. 😄
