Plans for today (2025)

Today was (and still is) hysterical. Not hysterical    , but hysterical :hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:
Wife to the doctor's at 7am for cataract surgery. Got out about 10am, back home.
Call from the (next) Indian food event - do this, help me with that, etc.
Two more people who want Indian dinners. YES!!
Then prep for today's class. I've got a new student who needs to pass the LNAT exam to study at King's, London.
Looked at the texts, looked at the questions and thought " I hope this kid is brilliant."
Anyone a lawyer here? See if you can solve the first 3 questions: What's the answer?
Class beginning in 10 minutes.
Son needs feeding, etc., wife is not allowed to move.

Still got some single malt left, though, for 8pm!

Yeah, good thing I'm done with school... ☺️

I bought a Sam**ng watch and paired it to my phone, now have a new phone but they won't talk to each other so will have to un-pair from old phone to pair up with the new one. I prefer my watch on vibrate so I don't have to listen to my phone tinging when I get a message.
I thought about getting one of those watches but it would remind me of my age... 😂

Work, and I think I’m going to try and get the grass mowed for the last time this year.
I did the last mow of the season earlier this week. Wanted to get the grass short enough so the leaves will be easy to rake when they fall.

I leave most of my leaves, since they’re very important habitat for overwintering insects and butterflies and such (including fireflies - that’s one reason why there are fewer fireflies now, people rake and remove their leaves, which is where fireflies lay their eggs). But I do rake the leaves off the back lawn and onto the veggie garden, where they protect the soil from erosion and also decompose over the winter and enrich the soil.

I rake up enough to put about 8" on top of the veggie garden and in the spring whatever is left gets tilled in. I use grass clippings, about a month old and turned regularly, to put on top of the garlic when I plant it. That's happening in about 2 weeks. 🤠

Saturday here. Brekky ritual done. Two race meetings on so betting. Using our own money now. Shopping later for family tea tomorrow. Thai salad and turmeric potatoes. I have kievs out for tea later.
Lawn man was here yesterday and man they look sharp. He does a great job for $25 a mow.

Russ.

We hung out with the Canadian folks at the pool. They were going to watch a show at House of Blues tonight and asked us to go, but it's a Duran Duran conver band and we opted out. Going to the seafood market in a bit.
I went on a jack the ripper tour in London and met a Canadian couple as well. They were so nice. Swapped numbers but I lost theirs. Then when we were in Vancouver the Canadians treated us really well and super friendly. Never met an arrogant Canadian yet.

Me neither, though I'm sure they exist. Every time we went to Mexico we hung out with the Canadians. Lots of fun.
