Plans for today (2025)

Shoveling snow!
All done!

It’s when someone’s blood pressure is higher at the doctor’s office, vs. normally. Some people get nervous or anxious having their blood pressure taken by a doctor, so it can be higher in-office than if you take it at home. It’s pretty common, my husband gets it sometimes.
Thank You, I was cleared, but I’m sure it’s lower at home.

The doctor wasn’t sure I would be here because his office has been texting my landline for confirmation, lol.

I have HBP, controlled with medication, but when I go to the doc, even if it’s nothing serious, it’s through the roof.

They’ll usually take it four times (twice in each arm) before they’re satisfied. At home, it’s always in normal range.

The thing is…I never feel particularly anxious when I’m at any doc, even when it’s something more serious.

Interesting, my family has a history of HBP, out of 5 siblings, only one brother who is a retired doctor doesn’t take any medicine for it, he’s controlling it through diet.
I’m the only one who is not diagnosed with HBP yet. One time I did gain a lot of pounds through my traveling, eating lots of Portuguese sausages(which I love), my doctor threatened me to put on medication. I said to him, let me try diet and exercise, I came back after one month and 10 pounds lighter through daily swimming, so that’s how I avoid taking it.
Right now, I’m on no medication, something I hope to keep going for a while.

I'm with you.
No medication though.
I take my own blood pressure at home and it's fine.
Not scared of doctors.

But I go to town and hospital and BP is high.
But Town is 1200 mtr altitude. I live at 350 mtrs. Town traffic is insane and can (and normally will) get me agitated.

My only plans today were to find a replacement part for the lawn mower and make some Chettinad garlic pickle.
I went to 3 hardware stores, and not one of them had the part, so it'll have to wait.
Completely unplanned was two friends appearing with 100 glass jars, for me to make some chutneys. They're going to market/sell them. Sounds good to me.
Then, completely out of the blue, I got a call from one of the culinary institutes in Caracas, wanting an interview regarding Indian food. I'm off in about 90 minutes...

Plans for today were taking my sister to go to the lab for blood test, then take her to a senior center for a free 3-course luncheon, she was invited by the city and I’m her driver. I’m now back at home recuperating, free this afternoon, maybe do some gardening.

My gardening has slowed to the point of ordering seeds for next year and working in mulch.

Thursday:
Wake up much later than I have been the past, oh, few weeks
Have a leisurely brunch, not sure what yet
Make a big `ole batch of my Paniolo (that's Hawaiian for Cowboy) Chili
Clean up the mess that I know it will make
Make an easy-to-prepare supper
Go to bed early

I've been (and will be through next week) knocking off work early to hunt deer in the afternoons. So far, I haven't so much as jumped one on my walks in and out of the woods. Still, I enjoy the quiet, the anticipation, and the squirrels and woodpeckers who provide entertainment. As I took this pic, there were a pair of pheasants sounding off to each other on either side of the field, which made me chuckle. I just love nature.

Here we get to put out deer corn, depending on the location. This is private property so it's allowed. Between that and the trail cams you can tell where they're going and eating. No luck this year, not even a sighting. Win some lose some...
