Plans for today (2025)

Transfer from the hotel to the cruise ship today. Only other thing is dinner reservations tonight.

Rode in my first Uber yesterday. Not sure how it’s supposed to be better/cheaper than a taxi. 🤷‍♂️

12 hours? Why? Maybe it’s too hot for so long. I turned my pot off, then mix in my starting yogurt from the last batch, then I pour the liquid in the jar, that’s it. My husband covers them overnight, in the morning they are very thick and that’s it. I don’t have Instant Pot. I just use regular pot.
I used to use a regular pot. It can't be too hot when its less than the kill temp of the lactobacillus and 12 hours, overnight, is convenient since I'm not using the IP for anything at that time. Preheating to 180F denatures the whey proteins, uncurls them, making a thicker yogurt.

Today I’m going to my mom’s house again. Yesterday was trash day so today the bins are empty today, I can dump more stuff. Will take some more stuff to donate, will have a cheap lunch there somehow, possibly $1.50 Costco hotdogs. I think this is the last time for the year, next 2 weeks we will focus on Christmas and New Year.

Plans for today were:
Deep clean (weed!) the kitchen garden, which has some lovely chiles growing in it at last.
I should probably have left it to the gardener. It took almost 4 hours, which included digging out some stubborn roots from the raffia palms and dumping two 20kg bags of fresh earth on it. I am now, officially, knackered.

Well my plans for today, like most days, got blown out of the water. Instead of having spaghetti bol for dinner - we went to Marino's where my OH had a cheese burger, sauted onions, tomatoe and chips (fries) while I got Chicken Masarla with mashed spuds :) Oh, and a few rum and cokes as well ;)

So far I have taken my tank into the city (the land cruiser 80 series). Some idiot thought they'd try bullying me... they didn't win. They were too scared of scratching their vehicle! :D

We've bought the Christmas tree. Tried a new place this year so we'll find out how good it is next weekend.

We've bought a few things we didn't need, had lunch, let the girls out (this means the chooks are free ranging, instead of behind the electric fence).

Still to do is to weed the saffron crocus section,
Dig up a briar
Water the veg plot and other plants ahead of this week's heatwave
Replace feed and water up top for the girls
Sweep the verandah
Make ratatouille
Possibly cook the cold soup for the hot end to the week
Shower
Ring my mum.

Better get going

Right, blows Venezuelan away.
Other way round!
Venezuelan rum, by law, has to be matured in oak barrels for a minimum of 2 years, otherwise, it's not allowed to be called "rum". Puerto Rican rum only gets one year. During those two years, there's an 8% evaporation (aprox) per year - that's the Angel's Share.
Diplomático, Sta Teresa, Carupano rums have won dozens of international awards over the past 10 years. About the only thing in Venezuela that's still high quality.
