Plans for today (2025)

Today is my Mother's birthday.
I have two of her favorite treats to give her.
We'll be picking her up and going to an Italian restaurant that she adores for linner (late lunch/early dinner).
It's BYOB, so I have a nice bottle of Prosecco chilling for us to take along.

Lots of garden work today. These are planned but if my energy does match up my plans, they will not get done.

I need to move the dirt in one path up to my Kilo guava, even the dirt out, otherwise I could technically fall in that area.

I need to move my Dr White Cherimoya to a container, that way the tree is tall enough to harvest the sun and uses the energy to produce fruit.

I need to move my Cambodian Sihanouk atemoya to where a Durian atemoya is, most like I will plant this in the ground because people online says this is a very good variety so it shouldn’t be in pot. Move the Durian atemoya to a container that is now growing a fig variety that I’m not too fond off.

I need to move my Honey Jar jujube outside and repotting it to a bigger container.

Repotting my Calderona fig to a bigger pot.

Weed the front yard.

Cut and trim the rose bushes in the front so I can dump the leaves in my city compost.

I'm exhausted reading this!

I never seem to be able to post my "plans for today" until the end of the day, which sort of defeats the objective.
Anyway....
I planned to do a quick supermarket run and pick up some fresh chiles, onions, vinegar, etc., in order to make some hot honey sauce.
That worked out fine. Wife was going off to play canasta this afternoon, so I thought "great, got the kitchen to myself, plenty of time, etc."
Got back home after a successful supermarket run, had something to eat, and then the canasta game was cancelled.
The ventilator in the oven was sounding strange, so I called the technician. He usually arrives 2 or 3 days later.
Wife left about 1pm, and the technician arrived at 1.10pm, so that was "no cooking"until he'd finished.
At 4pm.
10 minutes later, wife arrived, starving hungry, cooking some steak ( because she's going for the world record of "being on a diet - rocking and gaining weight since 1981 " .
No cooking yet.
Finally got into the kitchen around 5pm and discovered I'd got no garlic - for the hot sauce.
Change of plans: make a chile con carne (done); prep veg for piccalilli (done); make Kashmiri paneer masala (done); eat dinner (not yet done).
See you in an hour!

I'm exhausted reading this!
I only managed to finish the first item and the last 2, then it’s getting dark. I had underestimated how long trimming the rose bushes take, it was an ugly job but somebody got to do it. Very thorny.
I will try the rest tomorrow.

Today is shopping day, I plan to get the coffee from Starbucks that are on sale and a big pork shoulder, this big meat is on sale for 99c a pound.
The rest of the day, maybe making some yogurt wth the new Chobani starter we just purchased.
In the afternoon is shopping at Costco, we are running out of eggs, this maybe our last shop before Christmas. I get everything else locally, there’s no need for Costco.

I'm trying to finish off my shopping as well. I've no desire for the traffic and the lines. 😡 I'll probably have to get milk at some point but the gas station markup is well worth avoiding going into town.

I still have a few shops to go before Christmas, but this is last time for the year for Costco.
