Thought these were beans but possibly blackeyed peas tho not round enough probably. Given half a bucket of them - grown around here I think

No. When I cook them I soak them overnight, pour boiling water on them. They take around 40 minutes in the IP, instant pot, on high pressure cook. That would be a couple or so hours on a stove.

I cook mine in seasoned bone broth. The only thing I ever cook in water is roasted bones!

I actually have a plan today because I want to be freeee all afternoon!
1) Pick up some yummy Spanish cheese
2) Pit stop at the supermarket to get ice, rum, coke, bread and coriander leaf
3) Make pani puri filling (15 minutes)
4) Fry puris (5 minutes)
5) Make a dipping sauce for the dolmades (15 minutes)
6) Make pastry for wife's chicken pie
7) Sit down with a beer and watch something brainless on the goggle box.

Done. Except for #7, part 2. I'm typing stuff for you lot.

Interesting, I do soak mine first then I cook in crockpot, I’ve already dumped put the first batch of water.

I find that soaking first cuts down on cooking time, which in my eyes is less to GA Power.
