Plans for today (2026)

I also bought this:

Need to go out and cut some green onion or chives from the garden. Only thing growing there currently.

I don't hate it, but its a bit of a chore. Have you tried dictating?
No. My husband isn't feeling well and he's still in bed, and my computer is in our bedroom. But we have vaulted ceilings in the kitchen and dining room, so if I try on my phone, it echoes and will wake him up. I sent the photos to my desktop already, and I like writing up on the desktop better anyway.

Yeah, hate is a strong word, and I guess I didn't really mean that. Tedious, yes. This wasn't a complicated recipe so it shouldn't be too bad.

Oh yeah, I don't have a microphone on my desktop either...

I just tried the dictation thing on my phone using Gboard keyboard, it was right on freaky...

Getting ready to write up my deviled egg recipe, just finished my coffee. I don't know why, but though I love making new things, I hate writing them up!
Okay, done. Now I can go about the rest of my day.

I have a grocery order to pick up at 6 and then will start getting things ready for dinner. I have another ramekin of fish eggs to use up and that sashimi grade salmon in cryovac that I bought (it was frozen), so I think we will have deconstructed sushi bowls for dinner. Just have to make sushi rice, chop up the veggies, and I'll probably cook the salmon lightly so it's tender but still rare in the center.

Make a pot of squirrel stew. 🤤
I fatten the squirrels up for the red-tailed hawks who hunt in our backyard. Everybody has to eat. Hopefully they won't catch a rabbit this year. They cherry pick when they kill them and leave a messy, disgusting carcass for my husband to clean up. They just fly off with the squirrels. Stewie is too big and has razor sharp teeth and claws. They don't mess with her.

Ozzie has pretty much cleaned all of this out of critters. Whatever is left the vultures get pretty quick. It's actually against the law to harm the vultures around here since they manage roadkill, at least until it gets to deer size!

Yeah, we don't have any vultures around here that I have seen. Probably over at the metro park they have some, but I have never seen them and I walk those trails in summer. I have seen the occasional fox or coyote when driving around (lots of wooded areas down south of the city), but traffic usually gets them. And they don't come in our yard. The hawks are awesome creatures. I know there are eagles at some of the parks around here, but not in my neighborhood. I imagine they wouldn't have much problem flying off with a rabbit.

This was several houses down last year. We're close to the river too and bald eagles like fish!

Bit of a busy day today
Lots of computer based work and admin.
I hate admin.
Got to finish some work on my house and I need to do something with all the limes I got in the freezer. I already have a load of them in olive oil (recipe by Diane Henry). I'm thinking lime pickle for most, keeping some for gin & tonic
