Plans for today (2026)

I was 2 hours late for work this morning.
Sometimes, s*** happens and there's nothing you can do about it, except seethe inside (which is really not good for your health:laugh:)
Back in 1994, I had 3 kids to take to school at 7am and then (another) at 7.30am. That was normally hell on earth because rush hours in Caracas were just epic. I lived in the north east of Caracas; had to drive to the south east (about 20 kms) and then to the west (centre of the city) where my office was. My boss was an ex-marine colonel who expected everything to work like clockwork. He had no idea how Caracas could screw that up!
One particular day, there were accidents all over the place, everywhere I went. I left home at 6.30 am and arrived at the office at 10.30am.
Boss said: Where the Hell have you been??"
I barked "Don't ask! Just-do-not-even-ask!"
I think he got the picture.

My delay today was my own fault.

MrsT and I went to the doc, she checked me over, renewed my maintenance meds, and said, “I’ve ordered bloodwork, so stop in at the lab downstairs, get that done, and you’ll see the results in your patient portal later today.”

Walked out into the waiting room, where MrsT said, “What next, home?”

“No, I’m hungry, I want breakfast now!”

Out to the car, down to a local diner, just about to go inside, MrsT says, “It’s odd she didn’t order any bloodwork for you, she always orders bloodwork for me.”

CRAP!!!

Back in the car, back up to the lab, then back for breakfast…

Took me 2 hours to get home. The cause of all the earlier problems turned out to be a derailment near the main train station in the city (it was a minor derailment, there were no injuries and no trains overturned or anything), but it completely mucked up the entire train system for the whole day.

So I decided to take the alternative of subway + bus, and of course everyone else had the same idea, so I couldn’t get on the first subway train and had to wait for another one, and the bus was delayed.

All told, I have spent 5-1/2 hours today in transit. Forcing everyone back to the office is going just peachy so far!

I did go throw my sister’s bag of personal information, threw away a lot of stuff too. Her name and address on the any information was fed to the worms.
Then I did more trimming of the roses and the Longan tree. I decided this is the last year for the Longan tree, if I get no fruit, it’s going to be gone. That’s it, I’m fed up with these free loaders.
Tomorrow I will try to graft more citrus. Top main favorites are Gold Nugget and Washington Navel. Washington Navel is done fruiting so I can thin and cut as many scion as I like. So that is the plan.

My husband is back from the dentist, they fixed his tooth for 1.5 hours, good thing he didn’t need an implant. But we have to pay half for the new crown. The crown lasted 16 years.

So today I will dump out trash from my purse,
If that were my wife's purse, I'd get
  • a fridge
  • a kitchen sink
  • 6 expired credit cards from 2007
  • 4 socks
  • 3 packets dried up wet wipes
  • a bar of Cadbury's chocolate from 1982
  • 4 sets of keys from the flat we sold in 1997
  • 2 toilet rolls
  • a packet of cigarettes (she gave up 20 years ago)

After getting home from work, Mrs. GH rode along with me to replace a clothes dryer at one of our rentals, about 40 minutes away. I called my aunt and uncle who live out that way to meet us at a local dive bar we like for "wing night". We always have a great time with them. 👍 (But, in 2026, "wing night" means $1 wings. Good grief, it doesn't seem that many years ago when "wing nights" offered 10-cent wings and $1 drafts!)

It went well. I'll know for definite on Thursday but they can't see any obvious reason why I won't get one of the 2 spots. They just have to interview the other 2 students first. They contacted me first and gave me first pick of the time slots as it was.
It's been offered to me today!

:hyper: :dance::hyper::dance::hyper::dance:

Yeah... so excited.

And I did some gardening. A little weeding. Went to cut back a bush i transplanted at a not ideal time, one survived and looks great, the other list all its leaves, half way through trimming it back though, I realised that half the bush is actually still green inside. So it's got a reprieve. We've plenty of space in there garden for plants to get a second chance.
