Plans for today (2026)

I've had the day off university today, so the plans for tomorrow are assignment.

Well first I get to ring my sister after my OH has left for work at 7am. Then hang the washing out (I may try doing that whilst I'm on the phone to my sister - but the signal at the back of the house might now be strong enough).

Then I'll work on creating some more phishing email simulations

And then I'll start the assignment. Maybe.

Oh and the chooks are free ranging tomorrow, so I'll need to let them out and lock them up.

I need to gather some bamboo to anchor my squash shades and to better secure my tomato cages. While I'm at it put down some more mulch where the weeds are trying to come through.

I made some Mac n cheese Croquettes yesterday and need to refine that process. I cut them into squares but circles will fry better albeit more trimmings to gather up, Ozzie???

Finished on time, I'm glad to say, but a huge rainstorm this afternoon affected the number of visitors we had. Never mind! I think we did OK; at least we covered our costs and I'm pretty sure we actually made a small profit.
Came home with 4 bars of chocolate, a chocolate cake, a slab of cheese and a curry dinner, so that wasn't so bad!

I chose today to work from home, so that I could meet the stump grinder that I hired. All of the streets in our development were originally planted in Bradford Pears, which have all been dying out after 30 years. They used to look so nice every Spring with white flowers, but these days, the ones that are left, are all half dead. Everyone has been taking them down, if wind storms already haven't. I finally cut ours down in the fall. So, my guy ground two Pear tree stumps, plus another ornamental tree stump that I had also cut down last fall, and hauled away the excess grindings for a very reasonable price.

My next door neighbors had done similar last fall and planted "First Blush Flowering Cherry" trees in their Pear trees' place. To maintain "some" continuity on the street, we chose the same, and Mrs. GH brought those home this afternoon that I will need to plant tomorrow. She also bought an enormous Kousa Dogwood for the corner of the house, much discounted due to it's large size (which I don't understand), that she'll need to make a separate trip to pick up and lash down in her truck bed.

In addition, she bought a ton more flowers to add to our huge haul from this past weekend. You can see her in the upper-left of this pic planning her arrangements.

This is just her visualization in some window planters, a "test fit", before she commits some of her plantings, that she asked for my opinion on. This looked fantastic to me and I had no suggestions or complaints.
