I can see that it might be useful in long hikes, with it made up by mixing it with water, and apparently contains less fat and more protein. May be i will try it?

Like badjak said there's lots of it around here. I'll stick with the regular peanut butter. Oil weighs around 25% less than water so I'd rather carry the oil than the water.

I think the concept of at least the way I was looking at it, is that I'll always have water with me, and can usually pick it up from a stream etc (if my days of multi day hikes were not over).
