I love to eat chestnuts during the holidays, but I have yet to find a good method for roasting chestnuts. Amazingly it is hard to do. Does anyone have any tips or recipes?
Score the chestnuts with a sharp knife. Make sure that the cuts meet at the top else getting the nut out afterwards is difficult. This is time consuming so pick a good film and sit and do it whilst watching the film.
Now par-boil the chestnuts for 5-10 minutes depending on their size. You only want to part cook them.
Drain and put into the hottest your oven will go on.
Roast for 10-20 minutes depending on heat and size of chestnuts
