A bit of fun really! @winterybella mentioned rock cakes in a post and I got thinking about how to do something quirky with a basic rock cake recipe. Roquefort Rock Cakes sprang into my mind (it was the alliteration!
), and I thought, why not? This recipe incorporates walnuts which work nicely with Roquefort - but you could leave them out. I made them a bit smaller than a sweet rock cakes as I think they are best served as a savoury party nibble.
So, this recipe is dedicated to @winterybella, who celebrated a birthday yesterday. It is rather ironic as I don't think @winterybella has ever tasted blue cheese, let alone Roquefort (which is a French sheep's milk blue).
Anyway, here is the result. Excellent feedback received from the family.

Ingredients
225 g self raising flour
125 g butter
1 egg
1 tbsp milk
80 g walnuts (chopped into quarters)
100 g Roquefort roughly cut into half inch cubes (you could use another cheese but then you wouldn't get the alliteration!
).
Method
Heat the oven to 180 C.
Rub the butter into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
Add the cheese and nuts to the mixture and stir gently until evenly distributed.
Add the beaten egg and milk and stir gently with a spoon until the mixture just comes together as a thick, lumpy dough. Add more milk if required.
Place tablespoonfuls of the mixture on a non-stick baking tray and cook for 15 to 20 mins until golden brown.
