Had a sandwich? Post it here. Pics are nice but not necessary, just tell us what you had in it, how you rated it and if you’d change anything.
All sandwich versions welcome. Open, toasted, plain ol’ baguettes, wraps, your finest sourdough etc.
No burgers though if you don’t mind. Burgers are to my mind a different voluminous category!

Seafood and lemon n thyme salted cucumber.
Went down a storm. I particularly liked the cucumber shredded this way and the flavoured salt worked very nicely with the cucumber.

I have a sandwich of some sort nearly every day, but usually just a basic affair to get me over the lunch hour.

I have a story about that I’ll share later (I’m sure I’ve posted it before), but you’re opening the door on the age-old question… “Is a hot dog a sandwich?”

Basic is often the best type of sarnie.
I don’t know, is a hot dog a sandwich? I think it might be 🤔

Bit of a weird one from Max’s Sandwich Shop book.
Potato Waffle, Eggs and Marmite Mayo.

I poached the eggs rather than fried them as the recipe suggests.
It was liked to the extent they asked for another round, this time with two eggs in it. Mr SSOAP said he’d defo make this one for himself.
I felt it was good but a bit lacking, maybe needing some crispy bacon in there. Max suggests a kipper which I like the sound of.
We are scoring his sarnies out of 10 and this one scored 6 out of 10 across the board which is the first time he’s dropped below a 7.

A hot dog is a long skinny bologna.
So I guess the answer for me is yes.
Some people still put a burger between bread. So I guess that’s also a sandwich.

I used to eat at a tavern called Shamrock's in Ohio, E Palestine I think, and they had what they called a Shamrock club that was a typical club sandwich on toasted bread, but also included a hamburger in it. Really nice sandwich.

And years ago I made what was called a Double Coronary Vortex Burger that included bacon and a fried egg and was sandwiched between two toasted cheese sandwiches. Yeah, I know, lol.

IMO, if it's between two pieces of bread it's a sandwich. If it's on a bun made specifically for it, it's a hamburger or a hot dog. If it's on a long roll, it's a sub, hero, hoagie sandwich.

Hmm... but then there's the lobster roll served on a New England style hot dog bun...
This could get as confusing as how the various uses for tortillas give the finished product a different name :o_o:

Yep. My son said “a hotdog is clearly a sandwich because if you sliced the bread the other way it would be a roll and you can fill it with whatever”

The “Double Coronary Vortex Burger” though I can’t help but feel isn’t a burger, it sounds like a sandwich with a meat patty. Then again if it was a sandwich with a disc of burger just in the centre and not sliced and distributed evenly throughout the sandwich then I’m tapping out cos having to chew through a load of bread before I get the the main event is a no no for me!
