Shrinkflation

It's not just the size going down and the price remaining the same or going up, it's the fact that the new size means you have to buy 2 and figure out the correct weight for older recipes that used the older/bigger sizes or your recipe won't come out right.
More thinking... 😲

This happened in Sweden about 6 years ago to coffee. I don't remember what it was, but something increased the price of coffe.
And of the 6 most popular brands 4 lowered their weight from 500g to 450g. But they could also then lower their price then the 2 competitors. But only by like 5kr. So it was 56kr for 500g and 51kr for 450g.
And it worked. Since people don't look at comparative price or weight.
The major coffee brands in the US have been doing the same for years. I stock up on it when it's on sale (I am not that particular about my coffee), enough to last a few months or up until the expiration date.

They'd better never change the weight of a "pound" of butter, that will really mess everyone up!

I thought about, for a minute, figuring how much water was in margarine to know know how much cooks out. Didn't get that far when that means I'd have to buy more sooner...

Not particular about mine either. As long as it says dark roast I'm in. ☕

I prefer a darker blend for sure. One of my favorites is Chock Full 'O Nuts. I also like Community Coffee with chickory, and 8 O'Clock is pretty good, too. But I generally get those big ole' cans of Maxwell House (I think they are 33 oz, used to be 36 oz) when they are on sale for $7.99 and my DH uses that for his coffee and I mix mine in the canister with about 1/2 Maxwell House and 1/2 Cafe' Bustello (espresso grind). I put so much sweetened creamer in mine it really doesn't matter if is some fantastic Jamaican coffee or or other place where they are famous for excellent but expensive coffee, but I do like to taste the coffee through the creamer and sweetener, so basic breakfast blend doesn't cut it.

I used to get Community Coffee with the chicory too but then discovered Chicory USA and ended up buying my own chicory, ground or flour, and adding to my coffee to suit my tastes.

Black coffee drinker here.
No sugar
I buy beans and grind my own.
No shrinkflation there (yet)
But there is in tea as already mentioned and in doritos and plenty more

I used to roast and grind mine until all those things wore out. Prohibitively expensive to replace now.
