I was 'taught' to use lemon juice but I recently saw this tip from Prue Leith on TV. She placed the chopped avocado in a colander and simply rinsed it in cold water. Apparently it will then stay green for at least 24 hrs.

I use to could get those in 'Vegas. They were labeled Florida avocados but they're actually from Cuba and were brought to FL by immigrants. I believe their real name is a Catalina avocado.Lemon juice here, then wrapped in plastic wrap and into the fridge.
Eat faster is definitely an option in the US and Europe, where avocados are, unfortunately, tiny.

Might depend on whether the seed came from a hybridised plant or notI got an avocado tree in the garden. Grown from pip.
I've been told it won't fruit here, but we'll see.
