• I’ve added a casual chat room to CookingBites as a place for off-topic banter, light conversation, and short-lived chit-chat that doesn’t belong in forum threads. The chat room is informal and lightly-to-not moderated, with messages being temporary, so it’s ideal for friendly back-and-forth that would otherwise derail discussions. Site rules still apply, but there’s no reporting system or expectation of post-by-post moderation - if something becomes uncomfortable, the right response is to step away. If a topic has substance or lasting value, it still belongs in the forums; everything else can head to chat.

My 1990’s full-o-lead Corelle dishes are frequently displayed here. Here’s a platter, which still looks fairly new because we don’t use it very often:

Here’s a plate that’s in regular rotation:

Needless to say, that’s got a little fading going on!

Corelle, to the best of my knowledge, have always maintained that while their dishes before a certain time contained lead, they weren’t a danger as long as the dishes weren’t chipped through the paint or otherwise damaged, but from what I can find now, they’ve since come out and said to use dinnerware from this era for presentation only, no eating.

I’ve been itching to get new dinnerware for quite a long time, now I can get MrsT to agree.

Also, a quick search shows our wedding-present Noritake stoneware (which appears here occasionally), received in 1990, also has lead in the paint - she won’t be talked so easily out of those.
Glad to be of assistance 😂
I thought America banned the use of lead a very long time before the UK?

I am usually used to wake up early but not that early like this morning. I have to thank my neighbours for chatting at 5am as if it was 5pm. I am a patience person except for one sacred thing: sleep.
Silence is a must during night and in the morning at least until 8am. I have a light sleep and the slightest noise can wake me up... and when I'm woken up by noise caused by others, I become really unsympathetic. I can even go downstairs in my pyjamas and knock on the neighbours' door telling them to shut up just like Jack Nicholson in Shining would do.
Amen.

I had to pick up new computer and am installing it now.
It's in the updating phase...
Then there's getting the printers and all the hardware installed and up and running.

It's not the exact one I wanted. The store was supposed to have two and they had none, but it should work and I saved 50 bucks.

Mod.edit: this and other posts about dog UTI moved from What did you cook today? (MG)

Rough day today between the new computer, my septic, and the new pup (think she has a UTI), so I'm throwing something together quick.

I've got a can of Campbell's Homestyle tomato soup simmering in a pot with some pasta shells and fresh basil. A large amount of Pecorino Romano is going in towards the end. Which is right about now I'm guessing.

Fingers crossed.
Ouch on the uti, poor pup.

I wanted to say that if you've never had one you've no idea how painful they can be and won't go away by themselves. I used to get them a lot when I was younger. They can lead to kidney damage as I'm sure PAcanis knows already.

Yep. On top of it.
I think her being just a pup had me bluffed, but now thinking on some things, she's had almost all the signs.

Oh dear sorry to hear that. There are many things that can cause excessive thirst, really needs a vet for that diagnosis so hopefully you’ll know soon.

Yep. UTI.
I'm glad it was something easy. Aside from trying to get urine out of a dog who hates the rain on a day like today. It took me two tries to get about 4ml's. But that was enough for the et to do his thing.

And on the way back I got stopped by the train (of course). But as I was sitting there I knew that had to be a rainbow somewhere. Cloudy over here, but sunny over there... and a light drizzle going on.

So I looked and it was dang near right on top of me. Closest I've ever been to a rainbow.

Sadly, no pot of gold was waiting for me when I got home.

So you see it?
