The General Chat Thread (2025)

I've got such great news I just have to shout it out here:

I'm getting my first (trial) driving lesson next tuesday because I've been able to quit my opiate pain medication for more than a month now!
:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:

I can hardly believe that at age 38 I am finally able to hopefully get a driving license!
Ah now this definitely should go in the good news thread as well as here!
Very happy for you 😊

General Rant:
I collect different baking "stuff" over the year and stash them away when I see them.
A coupla years back, I bought a Wilton Baking Cup set for Halloween.
Opened it up this October to make up goodies to take to Bingo Night.

There's SUPPOSE to be 24 baking cups and decorative picks - NOPE!
I got 18 baking cups and 15 picks, damn it all!

I emailed to Wilton's Customer Service department, expressing my disappointment in this product.
Granted, it was only cost $1.88 at Walmart, but it was the principle of it all.

A few days later, I received an email reply from Wilton, apologizing and offering to send me a collection for Christmas... SURE!

My box arrived today with an extremely generous lot!
There's a total of 120 treat bags there, retailing at $2.79/20 count and the baking cups go for $2.00.
These are marked as samples in the shipping box, which I can understand, the treat bags just hit the stores and the baking cups, not yet that I can find.
My faith in "Big Business" has been renewed.

I think I'm going to share some of these treat bags with my Neighborhood Gal Pal who bakes.

Wilton is a good vendor. I buy their products without a second thought.

I'd like to complain.

Its meant to be summer. It's almost the end of November and I've just had to put the 'heating' on (aka Dyson hot and cold air purifier). It was down to 14°C inside.

I can get this weather in the UK!

We’re having what feels like the winters we used to get in the UK in the ‘90’s - damp, overcast, so grey it makes one feel sort of pulled out it time, free-floating in space, temps around 34F/2C, and just bone-aching outside because of the moisture, but I love it.

Summer here as well, but I had to put on a long sleeved shirt yesterday :(
Long sleeve tshirt and a woolly cardigan here, with the heater on all day. Brrr. my 2 broody chooks who just want to hunker down and sit on eggs are not impressed with their windy dog cage and no nesting box! It is covered over at night but even so its still not great.
