The General Chat Thread (2026)

Finally, my first succesful practice car theory exam.

Only 6 mistakes are permitted to be considered as passed. It's rather difficult!

Tuesday next week will be my first real theory exam, so I hope my score will stay around this level now. I know zero people who managed to get their car theory at the first try (and almost everyone I know is a university graduate) so I'm not too confident.. But I still have a week to study and will use it.
You'll do fine Windigo - have faith in you :)

50 questions for the car theory exam, you're allowed 6 mistakes. I failed because I had 8. The general succes rate for the exams as stated on the website is 38.2 %, so I think I will make it next time.
I had already anticipated this, because all of my friends and relatives ( all higher educated people) needed two tries or more.
I will go again next month.

You were close!

I'll apologise again for being absent. I've got a lot on my plate still.

I won't cover it all, but we're still in a heatwave (next 2 days above 40°C), so that's an hour every morning prepping the garden for the chooks to survive, one is broody as well just to complicate matters.

I have an interview on Monday afternoon for a work placement for next term which I really want (i don't want a group project which is the alternative where I just get assigned to a random group of students who may or may not be anywhere near my grades) and I've postponed my professional exam by 1 week because of all sorts not least of all there fact the house will be having an all day power cut that day!

Plus it is way too hot for new to so much studying... and because of the weather my asthma is playing up big time, so I'm only getting asleep after breakfast when I'm prepping the garden... you get the idea.

Anyhow, if anyone wishes to exchange ice for heat,v please let the bureau of meteorology know. ;)

Petty Vent:
I had tried to make an appointment to have my eyebrows waxed MONTHS ago, they're so wild. She was really booked out.
My eye sight isn't great for up close, so I've been having this nice young gal do it for me for about 9 years now.
When I first starting going to her when she worked in a Salon, it cost me $12 USD.
I have an appointment with her at her own salon a few towns away from us and she uses Square Go.
I just got a text asking me to confirm my appointment and I looked at the details... $30 USD!!!
GEEZ!
As the salon owner, do I need to tip her any longer? I've always given her a $5 cash tip,
and I ALWAYS bring some sort of baked goodie for her and her husband.
